#1 looks fantastic. Tee boxes are sodded, sand bunkers installed and filled, fairway looks like a carpet, green seeded.
Overlooking the #1 green complex. Note rear bunker and ample catch basins. What a difference!
Looking back at the #1 green complex from the cart path leading to #2. You can see the bent grass taking hold on the green surface clearly.
Looking at #2 Green from cart path right. Note ample run-up area front right and improved bunker.
Another view from behind and right of the #2 Green .
Closer to #2 Green you can see how well the grass is taking on the green. Looks healthy!
#4 Green from #7 tee box. Love the way you can see down both fairways.
#4 Green from cart path just beyond it. Huge impropvement!
145 yd. (approx.) approach shot view on the revamped # 5.
100 yd. (approx.) approach shot view on the revamped # 5. Love it!
Overlooking #5 Green from cart path above.
Overlooking #5 Green from cart path above. Breathtaking!
#7 looking great!
#7 from near the first target bunker. No more huge trap!
#7 Green. Don't go long!
#8 from front right. Really interesting shape.
#8 from behind. Again, ample chipping zones.
New irrigation perfectly halos the 9th Green. Minimal waste, ultra efficient.
Our shortest hole got a facelift!

Hey there, interested viewer! This is a note from the admin and creator of this site. Just want to let you know what I know about the course completion schedule, and about the website moving forward. As I understand it, the Creek 9 should essentially be finished with all major phases by early September, and the construction crew will bid us adieu! What is left to do is finish the grassing, complete the last of the irrigation, seed the greens (yay!) line and fill the bunkers, and finish any cart paths that were disturbed. There will be small things of course, that mostly can be handled by Lydell's crack team. Then the course will be allowed to "grow in", be mowed and maintained, and in the spring of 2022 we will be out there again playing our lovely, renovated Creek Course. As for this website, we are also nearing completion, or certainly slowing down. Today I posted aerials of all 9 holes to show you where we are. Note that the site is broken into 2 month sections, with headers above. Please feel free to go back and revisit the process. Meanwhile, there will be more interviews and some additional surprises coming over the next few months, but this site, like the Creek 9, is winding down! ~ Mark Green

Fascinating how detailed Bill is in the design of a golf course:
#1. We are mowing this hole and it will get better quickly. Lydell can go ahead and cut fairway per my plans. There will be chipping areas right and left of the green – these areas benefit most by mowing so they can tighten up.
#5. I marked both bunkers for adjustments and edging. They can be drained. The fairway bunker is a bit too boxy, round off the angled corners slightly and expand the left side of the bunkers marked. Dip the crest line as marked in one location. The greenside bunker looks better. Open up the front with a simple expansion. Knock down the high point on the back right collar. Raise the back crest line/saddle slightly. Edge and drain for my review. Keep working on the basin area right of the green to make it look and feel like it is in the low. Fill a more level path exiting the fairway on the left side of the green, leading to the A tee on the 6th hole. We will have a rolled berm along the path as it climbs the hill right of the green. Add big rocks along the right side of the path from the big tree down to the A tee on the 6th. This will serve as a natural guard rail. We will grow fescue between the rocks and will allow surface drainage to exit the path on the right so we avoid water build up going down the path.
#9. Broaden the fairway basin on the left side of the landing area and keep these blends nice and soft. The bunker is marked for edging and can be drained. Work on the fairway side tie-in and add some material on the left side green end of the bunker. The greens complex is really coming together. The bunker is marked for edging and can be drained. Lower the collar between the bunker and the center section of the green about .2’ or so. We made some adjustments to the putting surface to guide the floating process.
